Cabinet nod for Hambantota Port development project

The government's plan to develop the Hambantota Port in a public private partnership with China Merchants Port Holdings, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.

The government will also enter into a framework agreement with the Chinese investor, based on a final decision made at the Cabinet Committee on Economic Management.

The joint proposal in this regard was presented by Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrama and Special Assignment Minister Sarath Amunugama.
