The Ceylon Petroleum Private Bowser Owners Association (CPPBOA) failed to reach an agreement with the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) regarding their demands.
Association Secretary Shantha Silva said that they had to take this decision regarding the payment following the recent fuel hike.
The Association sent a letter to the CPC on May 22,2018 requesting them to increase their payment for transportation by 12.5 percent. In response, the CPC had replied on May 31 stating that the decision regarding the payment will be made at the board meeting to be held on June 6 and they would inform the association on the matter.
Silva said that they rejected the letter and informed the CPC to provide a favourable reply by yesterday evening.
“This had happened before as well. We sent CPC a letter on October 11, 2017 requesting them to let the association know about the price formula. But they never replied to that as well. We cannot trust them. If they do not agree to increase our payments, we are going to suspend fuel transport ”, he said.
