Amith Weerasinghe, two others released on bail

Three suspects, including Mahason Balakaya leader Amith Weerasinghe, held in remand custody in connection with the disturbances created in Digana, Rangala, Udispattuwa and Moragahamula on March 4 and 5, were released on bail by Teldeniya District Judge Shanaka Kalansuriya yesterday.

Kandy High Court Judge Kusala Sarojini Weerawardena on Monday granted bail to Weerasinghe.

The Kandy High Court Judge released Weerasinghe on a cash bail of Rs. 25,000 and two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each. Weerasinghe was also ordered to report to the Criminal Investigations Department every Sunday.

Amith Weerasinghe and several others were arrested in March for the violent incidents in Kandy.
