Three suspects who have been collecting money from massage centres in Kurunegala in the name of the Kurunegala DIG were arrested by the Kurunegala Police Crime Division recently.
The DIG on a tip off that he received on his mobile has directed a team of officers from the Crime Division to arrest the suspect.
The arrested are residents of Ibbagamuwa and Kurunegala, in the age group of 34-46.
They are henchmen of provincial politicians, police said.
The suspects have collected Rs. 3,000 to 14,000 from each massage centre.
They were produced before Kurunegala Magistrate’s Court last week and ordered to be remanded till February 5.
