President Gotabaya Rajapaksa offering his condolences on the first anniversary of the terror attacks on Easter Sunday which claimed the lives of 270 innocent civilians said that there is no room for extremism in Sri Lanka.
Nearly 500 individuals were injured in the blast which occurred in multiple locations in Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa. The President cited that this incident has not only impact the Christian community but all of Sri Lanka. “The attacks were possible due to the neglect of the intelligence services and lack of foresight into the existence of terrorism.” He said. “When there are such lapseS, it is easy for terrorist to take hold.”
The President assured that under his leadership and his vision for a prosperous Sri Lanka, he will protect all communities and will not allow extremist forces to take root. “Those responsible for the Easter attack will be brought to book,” he said.
