The report of the committee appointed to probe the recent power cuts handed over to Minister Dullas Alahapperuma on Monday, and it will be tabled before the Cabinet today.
According to reports, Prof. Rahula Attalage, the Chair of the nine member committee appointed to investigate the blackout prepared the report after considering all factors which contributed to the island-wide blackout on August 17.
The Ministry appointed a Committee to investigate the findings following unannounced islandwide power outages which lasted for several hours on Monday (17) due to a technical fault at the Kerawalapitiya Grid Sub-station.
The Committee was tasked with providing recommendations to prevent such incidents from reoccurring.The Ceylon Electricity Board was prompted to restrict power supply for another four days after the Lakvijaya power plant in Norochcholai failed to function due to the power outage. The other hydropower plants in the country too were off-line as a result of the islandwide power outage.
