Puttalam Police yesterday arrested the three Indian Nationals including a mother and her two children who had illegally entered the country via sea routes yesterday.
The 34-year-old mother and her children aged 13 and 4 had fled to Sri Lanka from Chennai, India by a fishing boat last week. They were found later by the health authorities while hiding in a house in Weppamaduwa area in Puttalam and were sent on quarantine.
Accordingly, the Police have arrested them for violating the Immigration and Emigration regulations and quarantine regulations. A woman who provided shelter for them has been arrested by the police. The arrested suspects were to be produced before the Puttalam Magistrate yesterday. Puttalam Headquarters police are investigating.
