More statements recorded over death of domestic worker at Rishad’s house

The Borella Police yesterday summoned the person, who brought the 16-year-old girl from Dayagama to the residence of ex-Minister and Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Rishad Bathiudeen, to record a statement.

Police Spokesman SDIG Ajith Rohana said the Police on Sunday also recorded statements from the Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law of ex-Minister Rishad Bathiudeen.

The 16-year-old girl was a domestic servant at the former Minister’s residence. The child was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital with severe burn injuries on July 3 and succumbed to her injuries on July 15. According to the post-mortem report the girl had been a victim of sexual abuse over a period of time.

The Police are conducting further investigations.
