A minor tremor was reported in Lunugamvehera Area this morning at around 10:38am.
The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GS&MB) said the tremor measured 2.4 on the Richter scale and was recorded.

A minor earth tremor was reported this morning in the Lunugamvehera area in the Southern Province, the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau stated. The Hambantota Disaster Management Centre stated that no damage was caused to property or persons. The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau said the tremor measured a magnitude of 2.4 and was experienced in Lunugamvehera.
“On August 24, a magnitude 2.07 minor tremor was experienced in Lunugamwehera and that was experienced in the area nearly around 09:21 pm”, Lunugamwehera Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Rasika Dinesh stated.
Residents say tremors have been reported in the area on several previous occasions.
