Backward Rural Areas Development and Promotion of Domestic Husbandry and Minor Economic Crop Cultivation State Minister Sathasivam Viyalendran has taken steps under the instructions of the Commerce and Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena to open Sathosa outlets in 14 Secretarial Divisions in the Batticaloa District.

The State Minister was addressing the media yesterday (12) after visiting several Sathosa outlets in the Districts.

He said that Minister Bandula Gunawerdana had made a statement that the national producers can market their products through Sathosa outlets.

“The Government brings essential goods closer and cheaper to the public since traders are hoarding goods to distance the people from the Government. The previous government had closed down the two Sathosa outlets in the District that had served the people. If those two outlets were still there, the public could not have to face this much of difficulties now, the State Minister said.

He said that the 14 Sathosa outlets will give prominence to market local products.
