Ajith Nivard Cabraal appointed as CBSL Governor

Former State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal has been appointed as the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka by the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa with effect from September 15, stated the President’s Media Division.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed former State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal as the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) with effect from September 15, 2021. He will assume duties on the same day, the President’s Media Division stated in a communiqué. A Chartered Accountant by profession, he has previously held the same post for almost nine years. Present CBSL Governor Prof. W.D. Lakshman will retire on Wednesday (15).
