Prices of turmeric skyrocket

The price of a kilo of turmeric powder is now Rs. 6,000 in the open market. A packet of 20g of turmeric powder is now sold at Rs.180 at groceries.

Meanwhile, Kurunegala District Consumers’ Rights Protection Committee Chairman M.M.Herath said that the racketeers seem exploiting the masses during the pandemic and the Government’s mediation is needed to control the prices.
