Illicit distillery raided

An illicit distillery was raided by Kataragama Police and three barrels of goda, 20 litres of illicit liquor and several gas cylinders and plastic containers were taken into custody last week. A suspect was also arrested, Kataragama Police said.

The suspect has told Police that the owner of the distillery was an opposition member of the Kataragama Pradeshiya Sabha (PS), Police said.

The PS member was later taken into custody and released on police bail.
