Saubhagya programme reaches Koralai Pattu PS

sUnder the Saubhagya programme launched by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, 2,000 Samurdhi beneficiaries throughout the island are being assisted in order to uplift their economic standards. Accordingly, freshwater fish families in the Koralai Pattu Pradeshiya Sabha were financially supported by the Fisheries Ministry and State Aquatic Resources Ministry recently.

Under the programme, 36 people in the Oddamavadi, Valaichenai and Kalkuda in the Koralai Pattu Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) were given Rs. 250,000 each by Koralai Pattu Pradeshiya Sabha Chairperson Jeyaranjith at Valaichchenai on Sunday (21).

The chief guests of the occasion were the representative of Parliamentarian and Batticaloa District Development Committee member Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan and General Secretary of the Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP) Party Poopalapillai Prasanthan. They handed over cheques. Speaking on the occasion, Prasanthan said that the Parliamentary Budget-2022 introduced various schemes to improve the economic standard of the rural population. “The Batticaloa District must contribute to national productivity, through the production of prawns, crabs and fish and also increase local productivity. We must make use of the resources properly in order to achieve this plan to improve the economic standards of the rural population which is the aim of this scheme,” he said.
