Chamari guides Sri Lanka to win over Scotland

Skipper Chamari Atapattu was in fine form making 86 in 45 balls as Sri Lanka women's team started with an easy 109 run win over Scotland in their Commonwealth Games qualifier cricket fixture played at Kinrara Oval grounds in Malaysia yesterday.

Sri Lanka women's chose to bat first and made a challenging total of 182 for 4 wickets in 20 overs while Scotland managed to get 73 for 9 wickets in 12.1 overs and their last batter Lorna Jack did not bat due to an injury.

Skipper Atapattu who was leading from the front as a opener made brisk knock of 86 in her 45 ball innings which consisted of 13 fours and two sixes maintaining 191.11 strike rate. Harshitha Madavi and Nilakshi de Silva both made useful contributions of 23 runs each to build up the innings .

Scotland never reached to their required run rate with Sri Lankan lasses made good challenge from the start. Ellen Watson top scored with 30 in 26 balls with four fours but others failed to make good knocks. The experienced Udeshika Prabodani made an early breakthrough to finished with 2 for 25 while Ama Kanchana 2 for 20 and the 20 year old Sachini Nisansala who played her debut T 20 game finished with 2 for 10 in her 2.1 over spell to strangle Scottish team.

Sri Lanka will meet Kenya in their second game tomorrow (20) at the same venue.
