Central expressway section earns over 10Mn within the first three-days

Chief Government Whip and Highways Minister Johnston Fernando said today that an income of over ten million rupees was received from over 50,000 vehicles within the first three days of the opening of the second phase of the Central Expressway.
 
After the stretch of road from Mirigama to Kurunegala was opened on Saturday it was kept toll free for the first 12 hours for the general public. Toll collection started at 12 noon on Sunday (16). From midnight Sunday to midnight Monday, 23,039 vehicles had used the new road. It was the day with the highest number of vehicles entering the road during the first three days earning a revenue of Rs 4,865,500.00, Minister Fernando said.
 
The interchanges of the newly opened section of the Central Expressway are at Mirigama, Nakalagamuwa, Dambokka, Kurunegala and Yaggapitiya.
