Campaign in Wayamba to collect discarded bottles for recycling

Wayamba Provincial Director of the Central Environment Authority (CEA) Geethanjali Seneviratne told the Daily News that a special programme has been launched in the Polpithigama, Maho, Panduwasnuwara East and Ibbagamuwa DS Divisions to collect discarded bottles of insecticides and pesticides.

The Director said that over 50,000 bottles have been collected under this programme to date.

“The collected glass bottles will be dispatched to the Naththandiya Glass Factory and the plastic bottles to the Pelawatta Factory for recycling,” the Director said.
