A 22-year-old man from Jaffna has committed suicide after losing a video game, Police said.
The incident had happened in Ilavali Kuvil area in Jaffna and the youth is said to have been addicted to violent video games.
Police found the man’s phone in his pocket and a phone earpiece.
According to his relatives, the deceased had spent most of the day playing video games with his mobile phone.
Examination of the youth’s mobile phone had revealed that he had been playing a violent video game before his death and he had not been able to achieve the challenge given to him on that day, police said.
The body of the youth who had hanged himself has been handed over to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital by the Ilavali Police and the police are conducting further investigations.
