The unloading of a shipment of 40,000 metric tonnes of diesel supplied under Indian assistance commenced last morning.
According to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) sources the distribution of the shipment which reached Colombo on Monday evening, to the filling stations has already commenced by last evening.
Meanwhile the Litro Gas Company says that the unloading of a shipment of 3,950 metric tonnes of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) that arrived in the country on Monday commenced that evening (30) itself.
Litro Gas has been planned to distribute 50,000 gas cylinders countrywide on a daily basis from yesterday (May 31). Around 60 percent of the gas cylinders are distributed in Colombo and Gampaha districts aiming to end the LPG scarcity promptly.
