Child molester gets 45 years’ RI, fine

A 45 year old man who was found guilty for molesting a 12 year old minor was sentenced to 45 years’ rigorous imprisonment by the Colombo High Court yesterday.

The order was delivered by Colombo High Court Judge Navaratne Marasinghe and the judge also ordered the accused to pay a compensation of Rs. 900,000 to the victim girl and a fine of Rs. 75,000 to the government.

According to the evidence that transpired during a lengthy trial, the underaged girl had been sexually abused several times by the accused between 2004 and 2005.

The Attorney General filed an indictment under three charges against the accused for molesting an underaged girl.
