Colombo bourse turned its direction yesterday after seven days of sliding amidst boosted investor confidence with regard to GoSL’s measures on revenue generation to streamline economic concerns.
Thus, the All-Share Price Index increased by 34.8 points (+0.4%) to close at 8,099.5 whilst S&P SL20 Index also increased by 16.3 points (+0.6%) to close at 2,671.7. John Keells Holdings, Expolanka Holdings, Teejay Lanka, Richard Pieris and Lanka IOC remained as the top positive contributors to the ASPI during the day.
Further, broader market’s total turnover stood at Rs. 1,440.9 mn against the 12-month average daily turnover of Rs. 4,662.4 mn, whilst the volume traded for the day was 69,751.9k against the 12-month average daily volume of 225,830.2k. Capital Goods, Banks and Transportation mostly contributed to yesterday’s turnover.
The top turnover generators for yesterday were Ramboda Falls Rs.292.9 mn (+53.9%), Expolanka Holdings Rs. 161.4 mn (+1.5%), Lanka IOC Rs. 137.6 mn (+6.1%), Browns Investments Rs.117.8 mn (-1.0%) and Melstacorp Rs. 114.6 mn (-2.3%). Foreigners recorded a net inflow of Rs. 185.9 mn yesterday. Foreign purchases stood at Rs. 390.2 mn whilst total foreign sales amounted to Rs. 204.2 mn. Top foreign buying counters RFL LKR. 278.9 mn, COMB LKR. 41.8 mn, CARS LKR. 1.6 mn, EXPO LKR. 1.1 mn and PABC LKR. 0.8 mn whilst top foreign selling counters were MELS LKR. (63.0) mn, DIAL LKR. (56.3) mn, SPEN LKR. (14.0) mn, SAMP LKR. (2.4) mn and LIOC LKR. (1.8) mn. Further, off-board transactions were witnessed in Ramboda Falls (Rs.278.7 mn), Melstacorp (Rs.64.5 mn) and Commercial Bank (Rs.41.0 mn) yesterday.
Additionally, Ramboda Falls, Industrial Asphalts, Blue Diamonds (Non-Voting), Muller & Phipps and Udapussellawa Plantations were the top price gainers yesterday whilst Ceylon Tea Services,
The Nuwara Eliya Hotels, Ceylinco Insurance, Trans Asia Hotels and York Arcade were the top price losers. Further, Browns Investments, Ramboda Falls, Dialog Axiata, Hela Apparel Holdings and SMB Leasing (Non-Voting) were among the most actively traded stocks yesterday.
