CI missing after transfer

Police Divisional Crimes Investigation Unit of Vavuniya is conducting investigations to arrest a Chief Inspector (CI) of Police who is reported to have supported treasure hunters while performing duties as the OIC of Kanagarayankulam a few months ago. Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said the officer in question has been transferred to the Nugegoda Division until the investigations against him are concluded.

Now the police are searching for him over the incident and he has gone missing evading arrest, the SSP said.

Earlier, the police had arrested several other individuals in connection with this incident.
