Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardana appointed new heads for the state media institutions yesterday. Accordingly, new Chairpersons and Directors were appointed to Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC), Independent Television Network (ITN) and Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), at the Ministry of Mass Media yesterday.
Asanka Priyanath Jayasuriya was appointed as the new SLRC Chairman and Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Prof. D.M. Ajith Dissanayake and attorney Rakhitha Abeygunawardane have been appointed as the new directors.
Chartered Accountant Ganaka Amarasinghe is the new ITN Chairman and senior journalist Hasantha Hettiarachchi, attorney Lalith Piyum Perera, lecturer Maheshwari Mahimdas, Ravindra Guruge and Indika Liyanahewage are the new directors.
Senior journalist Hudson Samarasinghe has been re-appointed as the new SLBC Chairman, and Professor Ven. Magammana Pagnanananda Thera, Priyantha K. Rathnayake, J. Yogaraj and M. Sisira Kumara are the new directors. On May 27, newly appointed Mass Media Minister Bandula Gunawaradana had requested heads of all state print and electronic media to step down from their positions.
