The Wattala Police have found five firearms manufactured in foreign countries hidden in a house in the Duwawatta area in Mabola, Wattala.
Following a tip-off, a special police team arrested a suspect who was hiding in a farm in the Aluth Eluwankulama area in Puttalam. According to Police, two double barrel ammunition, one single barrel ammunition and two 22 rounds of ammunition manufactured in foreign countries were seized.
The arrested suspect is to be produced before the Wattala Magistrate’s Court.
On the instructions of Wattala OIC Chief Inspector Lalith Silogama, SI S M.J. Silva, SI. T.V. Kodikara, PS Gamini, PC Ananda, PC Umayanga and PC Madhusanka are conducting further investigations.
