Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera has instructed private bus owners to refrain from going to filling stations other than Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) depots to obtain fuel.
The Minister also stated that a 24 hour fuel supply programme is being implemented through the SLTB Depots to supply fuel to private passenger transport buses.
Meanwhile, the Manager for Bus Operations at SLTB Panduka Swarna Hansa said steps have been taken to increase the number of buses operated by the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) daily.
A Railway Department spokesman said that the Department of Railways has sufficient stocks of fuel for train journeys.
