Nineteen year old Chandimal Herath is a Grade Thirteen student of St.Anthonys’ College, Katugastota in the Arts Stream and he is a talented cricketer who started playing cricket when he was a Grade Three student of the School. His first Coach was Susantha Basnayake, a Level Two Coach who trained Chandimal throughout his Cricket career. Chandimal is a Right Hand Batsman and a Wicket Keeper who represented the Under Thirteen Cricket team at the start and after winning several cricket matches against many schools he was adjudged the Best Wicket Keeper at the Division One Cricket Tournament. His team came up to the quarter finals in the Division One All Island Schools Cricket Tournament Chandimal did not keep Wickets from Under Fifteen onwards and in the year 2017 he was the Captain of the Under Fifteen Cricket team of the School and he scored 106 in 56 Balls against Kegalu Vidyalaya and in the second Innings he scored 91 runs in 56 Balls. He was selected to the Under Fifteen Provincial Cricket tournament at which their team became Runners-up. In the year 2019 Chandimal was selected to the First XI team under the Captaincy of Theeksha Gunasinghe and their team became Runners-Up and Royal College became Champions at the Singer Sri Lanka Cricket Tournament but due to covid epidemic his team was not involved in playing much cricket.
In the latter part of the year 2020, under the Captaincy of Gihan Ebert Chandimal played in Five
Matches scoring 100 and 54 against Isipathana College, 62 against S.Thomas’ Mt.Lavinia and 53 against Maris Stella - Negombo. During this period Chandimal was guided by Susantha Basnayake as well as Suneth Gunatillake, the Cricket coaches of the School and his intention is to continue playing cricket to be a National Player and to go to the Highest level in studies.
