A Japanese company is investing USD 25 million to build an airport transit hotel in Katunayake.
This three star hotel which would be directly managed by a Japanese hotel brand will consist of 180 rooms and the construction is in its mid stages.
The project is coordinated by Dr. Ruwan Perera, a well reputed and established business figure in Japan who has invested in many projects in Sri Lanka. He has invested over USD 100 million in Sri Lanka.
On a request made by Dr. Perera of Nippon Donation Foundation which is one of the leading donation foundations in Japan on a request of the National Hospital Colombo also came forward to donate medical equipment to the tune of Rs.10 million.
The foundation is making donations to many developing countries in the world to uplift the standards of many sectors such as health, education, entrepreneurship ect. Nippon donation Foundation has positively considered our request and Yuma Muranushi, the founder of Nipon donation Foundation and Dr. Ruwan Perera, Director International Relations of Nipon donation Foundation are on a visit to Sri Lanka to explore and identify the actual requirements to make donations.
They are planning to meet Prime Minister and government officials also to further discuss their future plans.
During the visit they have made arrangements to make this donation to the national hospital and also are looking for more investment opportunities.
Nippon donation foundation has pledged to continue with their donation programs with identified sectors and also to bridge Japanese investors to invest in lucrative projects in Sri Lanka.
Also, Dr. Ruwan Perera will facilitate the exporters in Sri Lanka to enter into the Japanese market and has made arrangements to bring a Japanese Investment delegation to Sri Lanka next month.
All these programs are coordinated through the Sri Lanka Trade Development Council which is led by Roshana Waduge, prominent business figure in Sri Lanka. (SS)
