Hapuarachchi assumes duties as CG of IRD

D. R. S. Hapuarachchi assumed duties as the new Commissioner General (CG) of the Inland Revenue Department (IRD).

He said that the Inland Revenue Department is one of the three key institutions along with the Customs Department and Excise Department that generate revenue to the government. Today the government needs high income and the time has come where everyone should cooperate and work with dedication to collect higher income than the current one to increase government revenue.

“Through increasing the tax revenue of the government, the entire nation and the entire country can achieve development, welfare and progress. By collecting the taxes properly Sri Lankan community can move towards a developed nation.”
