President pays Tea Party bill

The total expenses of the tea party for Parliamentarians and other invited guests after the ceremonial opening of the new Session of Parliament on August 3 were personally borne by President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Parliamentary Affairs Advisor to the President Prof. Ashu Marasinghe said.

The total bill had been Rs.272,000. Prof.Marasinghe said the President paid the bill keeping to his policy that the Government expenses should be strictly controlled given the prevailing conditions of the economy.
