The long-awaited Sri Lanka Schools Novices Swimming and Diving Meet will commence this weekend at the Sugathadasa Indoor Swimming Pool, offering aspiring swimmers an opportunity to showcase their talents on a national platform after almost two years.
The event organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association while it will be sponsored by Nestle MILO in line with its ambition of supporting grass-root sports in the country. The drawing applications from over 5,000 swimmers from schools across the island, the meet will comprise of events under the age groups of 10, 12, 14, 16,18 and 20 and the events dates are given below .
*Swimming: Girls: August 13-14
*Swimming Boys: August 19-21
* Diving: August 20 (both girls and boys)
The top eight of under 10 and 12 events selected based on qualifying time, and the three winners of under 14,16, 18 and 20 events will get the opportunity to compete in the 46th Sri Lanka Schools Swimming Championship .
Meanwhile the planned to be held later this year, the Sri Lanka Schools’ Swimming Championship would also be sponsored by Nestle MILO, helping children excel in the sport they love, whilst nourishing them to go further.
