Monkey roaming and attacking villagers in Panadura area caged

The wildlife officers of Aththidiya managed to cage a monkey, which was roaming in several villages in the Panadura area attacking over 40 individuals recently.

This monkey belongs to a rare species and steps should be taken to conserve this species, Environmentalist Nayanaka Ranwella said.

It was reported that the caged money had attacked over 40 individuals in the Kaludewala, Dibbedda, Madupitiya and Rohini Watta areas for the past three months. This issue was taken up for discussion at the recent monthly meeting of the Panadura Pradeshiya Sabha also. Wildlife Director (Health) Veterinary Dr. Tharaka Prasad and his team conducted the raid.
