A 10 percent discount will be offered to Sri Lankan migrant workers and those domiciled overseas when buying houses with dollars in middle income housing projects built by the Urban Development Authority (UDA), the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing said.
Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said that the necessary facilities have been provided for Sri Lankan’s in overseas countries to buy these houses with dollars.
He said that this new system was introduced as a solution to the dollar crisis in the country.
Two middle income housing projects implemented by the Urban Development Authority have been completed so far. The completed Borella ‘Oval View’ housing scheme consists of 608 housing units, while the Angoda ‘Lake Rest’ housing scheme consists of 500 housing units.
