The Smagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) recently donated essential medical equipment worth over Rs. 3.5 million including a dialysis machine for the AmparaaGeneral Hospital.
The doctors at the Ampara Hospital accepted the donation from SJB and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.
The Opposition Leader distributed the medical equipment under the Jana Suwaya project by the SJB.
The funds to buy the medical equipment and the dialysis machine were collected from SJB Parliament members, party organisers and supporters and also members and donors from the SJB local and overseas branches. Opposition Leader Premadasa said that the SJB has so far donated medical equipment worth over Rs. 120 million to several Government hospitals in the country. The Doctor In-charge of the Ampara General Hospital highly valued the medical equipment and said that these medical equipment are immensely needed at this moment for the benefit of all patients including COVID-19 infected patients, heart patients and other patients at the hospital. SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara said that the SJB will donate more medical equipment to several other hospitals since the party’s only expectation is to provide the maximum health protection to all needy patients in the country.
