FAO Representative for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Vimlendra Sharan and Agriculture Ministry Secretary Rohana Pushpakumara, in the presence of Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) yesterday regarding the beneficiary selection and distribution of fertiliser to paddy farmers in Sri Lanka.
As the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, FAO, through the support of its partners, is procuring Urea and Triple Super Phosphate (TSP) fertilizers to improve the production of the upcoming cultivation seasons and strengthen food security in Sri Lanka. The MoU signed yesterday provides a framework for the selection of beneficiaries and distribution of the essential agricultural inputs for paddy farmers in Sri Lanka through the Agriculture Ministry.
