Panadura Chief Magistrate Jayaruwan Dissanayake ordered that a person who has been remanded for more than three months in connection with the theft of PVC pipes from the Panadura High Court Judge's official residence be released on two personal bails of Rs.100,000 each.
The suspect, a resident of Station Road, Maharagama was released on bail. The Magistrate further ordered to issue warrants to the complainant in the said case, a court employee and an investigation officer, as they did not appear in the court on that day.
It was reported in the court on June 8 that the suspect had entered the judge’s residence and removed the water pipe causing damage to the tune of Rs.15,000.
The suspect was charged with four counts of trespassing, mischief, theft of property and possession of stolen goods.Police Sergeant H.A.U. Ananda led the evidence.
The case was fixed for November 8.
