New Zealand’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Michael Appleton and Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Traveller yesterday called on Public Security Minister Tiran Alles at the latter’s Ministry. Their discussion focused on a gamut of subjects including the protests that were held in the country, prevailing peaceful situation and the role the Police Department. The High Commissioner has sought the Government’s cooperation in foiling possible attempts by Sri Lankans to enter New Zealand by boats illegally.
The Defence Attaché at the Embassy of Russia in Sri Lanka Colonel Aleksei A. Bondarev paid his maiden call on Air Force Commander Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana at the Air Force Headquarters on Wednesday. After a discussion on matters of mutual interest, the Air Foce Commander and the Russian Embassy Defence Attaché exchanged mementos to mark the occasion.
