Plan to implement solar power project for all religious places

The Government has already taken measures to implement a solar power project as a long-term relief for all religious places that are facing problems due to the increase in electricity bills, Cabinet Spokesman and Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister, Dr. Bandula Gunawardena said.

“On the advice of the President, measures have been taken to implement a solar power project as a long-term relief for all religious places that are facing problems due to the increase in electricity bills, and to look into other possible reliefs.” he said. The minister was responding to a question by a journalist at the weekly cabinet media briefing held yesterday at the Government Information Department.

The Minister further said that the President has also instructed relevant authorities to take immediate measures to get a final decision in this regard. Accordingly, long-term relief will definitely be given to religious places in the future.

When the media inquired about the fact that some monks say that they are unable to pay the electricity bill, the minister said that he believes that the religious leadership that advocates for a prosperous country will not make decisions like ordinary people, and that the discussion will lead to a more successful solution through consensus.
