Cannabis trafficking brothers arrested in Embilipitiya

The Criminal Investigation Department arrested two brothers and their brother-in-law, who lived a luxurious life by engaging in cannabis trafficking on a large scale in Embilipitiya area, were arrested along with three vehicles worth over Rs.80 million.

Two jeeps and a cab worth over Rs.80 million used by them were confiscated and taken into police custody after it was discovered that they had bought them using the money earned from theracket.

Investigations were carried out by the officers of the Organized Crime Division of the Illegal Assets Investigation Division based on a written complaint made by the Embilipitiya Senior Superintendent of Police, to the Criminal Investigation Department.

Police say that after buying a luxury house in Kavantissapura area of Embilipitiya, they had used it as the main centre for their cannabis distribution work. Police will report the details of the findings to Courts shortly.
