Policeman arrested for inappropriate behaviour

A Policeman attached to Nikaweratiya Police has been arrested and suspended from work over an alleged incident of inappropriate behaviour.

The said Policeman who was in a civvy had attempted to forcibly give a 22-year-old female undergraduate of the Sri Jayewardenepura University a lift on his bicycle. The girl was waiting at the bus stop at Devala Junction.The Police officer was returning home after work. The student had run to a nearby shop and the people, who were in the shop, had caught the Policeman and handed over to the Police. The undergraduate had also given a statement to the Police. Police said legal action would be taken against the suspect.
