Micro Electric International to open factory and sales outlet in Mumbai

Micro electric international Pvt. Ltd, will be opening their first international factory and sales outlet in Mumbai India in February 2023.

“We have already acquired the land and have set up the factory employing over 30 people, ‘’ said Micro Electric Chairman, Dhammika Samarawickrama. He said that they would be manufacturing over 50 electrical accessories for the Indian and South Asian market from this factory and would be marketing them under the brand name, Divolca.”

He said it was very easy entering the Indian market and they only had to get four approvals and the whole process took less than two weeks. He said one of the biggest advantages of doing business in India is that most of the raw material for their production is available in India itself. “Hence we now plan to ship some of the products, made from our factory in India and value-added them in Sri Lanka and market them locally.” Samarawickrama said that they had planned to open their India potation at the end of 2023 but advanced it due to high dollar costs when importing raw material.”

He said that they are now planning to open their second factory in Bangladesh and the third in Kenya in the next two years and they will bring their revenue back to Sri Lanka in dollars helping the export sector as well.”

This will help to strengthen our local operations and mainly help to provide livelihoods to over 500 director and indirect staff and local suppliers. Commenting on their joint venture with Hypro to locally manufacture Smartphones he said they were forced to push back this program

due to high ‘dollar’ rate and import ban of some items needed for this operation. He said that Micro electric international would also be celebrating their 27th anniversary today and several CSR and religious programmes have been organized. Micro Electric International has received several local and international awards and accreditations including the ISO 9001:2015 certification from the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) recently for their range of electrical products.
