Authorities yesterday arrested three Sri Lankans along with an Italian national who were conducting an illegal interview in a hotel in Badulla town by posting an ad on the Facebook page saying that jobs will be offered in Romania. The three Sri Lankans arrested along with the 58-year-old Italian are relatives aged 62, 47 and 35 years old, residing in Badulla and Neluwa areas.
The investigating officers said that the Italian did not have any document or passport to confirm his identity. It was later revealed that he is married to a Belarus woman.
The people who came for the interview said they were told to bring Rs.5,000 in cash along with medical reports, police reports and the national identity card. They had been also told to pay Rs.1.5 million after the initial screening . The suspects are to be produced in court.
