The University Grants Commission sources yesterday said that the cut-off marks for admission of students to universities based on the GCE Advanced Level Examination 2021 will be released tomorrow (2). UGC sources said this is the first time that the cut-off marks for admission of students to universities are released in the shortest period of time following the application process.
The Examinations Department issued A/L results within two months and a week after closing applications for university admission. The last A/L results were released on August 28, and according to those results, applications for university admission were
called on September 5 and closed on September 23. Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha had previously announced that the university cut-off marks related to this examination would be released at the end of November. A total of 272,682 applicants out of 236,035 school applicants and 36,647 private applicants appeared for the A Level-2021 (2022) examination, of which 171,497 had the minimum qualification for university admission. 149,946 students who got minimum qualifications for university admission were school candidates while the number of students to be admitted to State universities is 42,519.
