A Police Constable serving in the Ministerial Security Division who was arrested by the Kandy Police together for possessing 80 milligrams of heroin was released on bail with a surety of Rs 100,000.
He had been deployed for the security of players in relation to the limited over series cricket tournament being held at the Pallekelle Stadium, Kandy between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
The suspect pleaded not guilty and the Magistrate ordered the police to submit a report to the court on February 21 subsequent to carrying out initial investigations.The 24-year-old suspect, a resident of Ruwanwella had joined the police force on July 15,2021.He had completed his training and been appointed to the Ministerial Security Division on May 21, 2022.
He had arrived in Kandy on November 21 as he was deployed to provide security under special duties for the Sri Lanka Afghanistan cricket tournament.
