The Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission has arrested an associate of a drug trafficker who tried to bribe Rs.25,000 to the Avissawella Crime Division OIC to reduce charges against a drug trafficker who was arrested with 10 grams of heroin in a manner that he will be given bail when produced in court.
He was arrested inside the Avissawella police station.The suspect was remanded till December 16 after being produced before the Avissawella Magistrate’s Court.
This is the fifth suspect arrested by the Bribery Commission in connection with trying to offer bribes to Inspector Sugath Roshan Sanjeeva, OIC of the Avissawella police Crime Division.
Sanjeeva had informed the Bribery Commission on all occasions when suspects had tried to offer him bribes.
