Two injured in attack on NPP meeting in Pothuhera

Two National People’s Power (NPP) supporters including a member of the Polgahawela Pradeshiya Sabha,   Somaratne Edirisinghe were injured and admitted to the Kurunegala Hospital after a group of drunken men attacked a village level meeting of the NPP held in Weerambugedara, Panagamuwa on Tuesday.

The injured persons told the Police that a group of six drunken men stormed the meeting ground and assaulted them shouting obscenities.

Police said that a person involved in the assault is also in the hospital, saying that he had been assaulted by the NPP supporters.

The Pothuhera Police say that they were not informed about this meeting. The Police also said that properties including a car and two loudspeakers were damaged in the attack.
