Havelocks out to enjoy another successful season

Havelocks Sports Club (HSC) Rugby will be powered by three sponsors in the upcoming 2022/23 Rugby season which is to kick-off from today with the participation of eight clubs.

FLYHISPORTS (main sponsor), Lanka Hospitals (Medical Partner) and Prima Group as co-sponsors have got on board and tied up to boost the rugby season which will span over several months. With a proud history of over 108 years, better known as “Park Club”. Havelocks has played a pivotal role in harnessing the young talent handling the oval shaped ball while transforming them to highly skilled players representing the country.

HSC will obtain the support of a sportswear company as their main sponsor this year and Lanka Hospitals another key establishment serving the health sector has continued to lock horns for the fourth consecutive year as the much-needed health care partner while Prima Group another force behind empowering the youth through sports have extended their support

FLYHISPORTS was established in 2013 and has catered to the demands of Clubs, Schools and Sports Associations in collaboration with the designers enabling them to choose a wide range of world class fabrics. At present they are catering to Rugby Unions, League Rugby, Athletics, Soccer, Basketball and Netball respectively. “We are extremely delighted to expand into Sri Lanka and to join hands with Havelocks Sports Club, a pioneer rugby playing club in the country, eventually a household name in Sri Lanka. Our management has opted to go ahead with this sponsorship. We look forward to that with our support and the other sponsors they will put up a splendid performance to clinch the titles which are on offer.” said Dr. Nirmal de Silva the Marketing Consultant for FLYHISPORTS.

“We expect to strengthen our bond further in the years to come without limiting it to a mere single year. They need some time to jell as a unit and to become a winning combination. Hence, we look forward to extending our support in the years to come while wishing them all very best.” Nirmal de Silva further added.

Lanka Hospital PLC will play a phenomenal role covering the health requirements of the players especially during their injuries. They have stood as a towering strength in the past years and look forward to supporting the club in all health endeavors. “We are once again happy to associate as the health care partner for the fourth consecutive year with a club which has played a prominent role in producing several talented players to don the national jersey. We wish them all the success and hope they will be able to clinch the title this season.” Said Nimal Ratnayake, Group Chief Marketing Head of Lanka Hospitals PLC. Prima Group, rejoined the club as a co-sponsor after a lapse of several years. “With a vision of supporting the youth in the country, we bind with Havelocks which plays a superior brand of rugby to surge ahead to win the titles. They were within their vicinity of winning the title last year but were deprived due to various reasons. Nevertheless, we wish them all the best for the upcoming season.” Said Sajith Gunaratne, Deputy General Manager of Prima Group.

Meanwhile, Thusitha Peiris the incumbent President of HSC thanked the sponsors for coming forward to bolster their rugby season when the country is at a crucial juncture. “Without sponsors no sports could sustain at the present scenario where the cost factor has climbed sky-rocking. We are indeed thankful to the three sponsors who showed their willingness in supporting us at a crucial juncture. Playing competitive rugby is not an easy task without sponsors. Now the boys can concentrate on playing games to the best of their ability and to clinch the titles on offer.” Said Thusitha Peiris. Havelocks has a squad of 35 players led by former Royalist Umesh Madushan while Vimukthi Rahula former Josephian will be his deputy. HSC will play host to CR and FC in their curtain raiser this Saturday at 4 p.m.
