CID to probe funding sources of fake Dalada Maligawa in Pothuhera

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is currently investigating how funds were received for the construction of the Kurunegala fake ‘Dalada Maligawa’ in Pothuhera. 

A team of investigating officers of the Criminal Investigation Department has gone to the premises on Saturday and had inspected the place.

The CID is focusing on areas such whether money has been received from abroad for the construction of the place and if so how such mnies have been received etc.

Also, the Criminal Investigation Department has focused its investigations on whether proper permission has been taken from the local governing bodies for the construction of this building.

Apart from this, many people who issue statements against and for Janaka Senadhipati, the person behind the construction are being monitored by the Criminal Investigation Department.

The special attention of the investigation team of the Criminal Investigation Department has been drawn to whether there are statements issued by Janaka Senadhipati in a manner which insults Dalada Maligawa and the tooth relic.

Meanwhile, due to the influence of various parties, the ‘Patthirippuwa’ area of the fake Dalada Maligawa was demolished yesterday (8) morning.

Former minister Mervin Silva, who visited the location on Saturday had instructed Janaka Senadhipati to remove the ‘Paththirippuwa’ of the fake Dalada Maligawa within two weeks.

Meanwhile, Director General of Archeology Senior Professor Anura Manatunga said that he hopes to make a complaint to the Criminal Investigation Department today (9) against comments insulting the sacred tooth relic.
