Musaeus College claimed the All Island Inter School Under 16 Hockey 2022 title at the Dambulla National School Ground with the participation of 22 teams around the country.
In the final, Musaeus College dominated the proceedings against Sri Sangamitta Balika National School, Matale, until play was abandoned due to bad light just after the restart after half time and both teams were tied at nil-all. However, Musaeus College Hockey Team were awarded the title as they were the only unbeaten team in the tournament, securing their school’s legacy.
Musaeus College came into the tournament as a top contender and punched above their weight class to knock all the pre-tournament favorites out of the competition. The team comfortably won all the league matches against Sri Sangamitta Balika National School - Matale (1-0), Sandalanka M.M.V. (3-0), Swarnamali Balika Maha Vidyalaya (2-0), Kaikawela Central College (1-0).
In a thrilling quarter-final, Musaeus beat their traditional rivals Visakha Vidyalaya - Colombo 05 with a score of 4-3, where penalty strokes was the decider. In the semi-final against Panadura Balika Vidyalaya, Musaeus College secured the win with a final score line of 1-0.
