Panadura Balika Vidyalaya under 14 stickers were awarded a “ Gold Star “ in group “ C “ at the Girls all Island Hockey tournament, organised and conducted by the Sri-Lanka Schools Hockey Association, played in Matale recently.
In their matches, they beat Viharamahadevi Balika Vidyalaya, Kandy by 2 goals to nil, Yashodara Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha by 2 goals to nil , drew with Musaeus College, Colombo nil all and Christ Church Balika Vidyalaya, Matale nil all to bag this prestigious award.
Principal, Suranthi Gunawardena, a live wire behind the development of Hockey took a keen interest with the MIC Surangi Perera and made all arrangements to provide them all facilities to see these lasses taking part at this tournament, where they in turn proved their talents to be one of the best teams at this tournament and bring Honor and Glory to the School and the district of Kalutara. The person behind Panadura Balika Vidyalaya is their coach Rangika Prasad Perera, an old boy of Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa and a famous Hockey star, who has done an excellent job with his coaching talents, guided these young lasses to come to top at this tournament.
