Naren Muralitheran, the son of world’s greatest off-spinner Muttiah Muralitheran, scored a magnificent century in an under-19 school cricket match yesterday. 16-year-old Naren representing St. Joseph’s College scored 131 runs against Ananda College in this match held at St. Joseph’s ground, and it is also his maiden century for the school’s first-class team.
Narine’s 171-ball innings included 16 fours and a six. He is a right-handed batsman who plays at number 4, and is also a leg-spinner.
This was his second match, and he managed to score 47 runs in the previous match against Royal College. St. Joseph’s College team scored 375 runs for 6 wickets in their first innings and suspended the innings.
